Orishada is a poor, low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Velous Subsector of Far Home Sector.

Astrography and Planetology
The Orishada system is a backwater, lying on the edge of the Demon's Eye Rift.
- The supergiant primary star of the Demon's Eye system and the huge Demon's Eye Nebula that surrounds it, lying 6 parsecs to rimward, are clearly visible in the sky.

System Data
Chalos-Orishada System
The primary is Chalos, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.42 Sols, a mass of 0.825 Sols and a diameter of 1.263 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a trace atmosphere worldlet. (III) Orishada orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a large gas giant forms the inner part of the outer system. Orbital positions (V) through (X) are unavailable due to the presence of the companion star. (XI) a sparse icy planetoid belt, lying beyond the companion star, forms the outer part of its outer system. Orishada and the gas giant retain satellites.
Manar Subsystem
The companion is Manar, an ordinary red main sequence star that orbits Shalos at a mean distance of 20.2 AU (orbital position (IX), 3.021 billion km). It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols and a diameter of 356,000 km. (I) a standard atmosphere hospitable world orbits within the habitable zone. (II) a small gas giant, and (III) a ringed small ice giant form the outer system. Both of the gas giants retain satellites.

(III) Orishada
(III) Orishada is designated the mainworld. It orbits Chalos at a mean distance of 0.71 AU (105.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 240 days 14 hours and a rotation period of 33 hours. The axial tilt is 15 degrees. Orishada has a diameter of 7,816 km, a density of 4.87 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.54 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.44 bar and a composition of 87% nitrogen (N2), 11% oxygen (O2), 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by low percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 22% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.25m. Mean surface temperature: 12°C. The atmosphere is sluggish and slow weather systems, driven by the star, crawl across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 192 million km², Land surface area: 150 million km², Water surface area: 42 million km². The northern tropics are covered by the Vardak range and the southern pole is dominated by the Heights of Pygar, barren mountain and highland regions surrounded by stony rubble-covered plains. The Plain of Sorrows and the Bowl of Dust, lying along the equator, are arid deserts. The Gorgon Sea, the largest body of water, lies in the southern hemisphere and is surrounded by lakes and marshy Damplands. The poles are ice-capped throughout the year, with glaciers and ice-fields extending into the temperate zones in some areas. Large areas of the northern temperate zone are lowland and are dotted with small lakes of glacial origin.
Native Lifeforms
Orishada has primitive native life, largely consisting of microscopic organisms that exist anywhere that they can find water. The most advanced lifeforms are simple worms measuring millimeters in length. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. A number of types of introduced flora survive and even thrive on the world.

Orishada has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
