Oracle has both an unbreathably thin atmosphere and a lack of surface water making habitation by sophonts difficult. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This a low technology world with technology competency below the standard for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Arnakhish Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Oracle, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling Scout Service starships and personnel. 20% of the world's population is the Minor Race Chirper. During the Long Night this world was named Gaguushpa.

History and background

Records from the Second Imperium show this world was inhabited with Chirpers.

The only human settlement on Oracle is a temporary base set up by historians from the University of Korvell-Medurma

Point of Interest: Oraclian Droyne

The Droyne of Oracle are scattered desert dwellers who have a body of oral myths and legends that form the fundamental background to the Droyne society. The oral myths form the history of the race; new events are either forgotten within a few generations or are incorporated into the song cycles. Droyne legends refer to the arrival of the Vilani scouts (about 12,000 years ago) as well as climatic change and what is possibly events during the final war. Other songs teach their young their duties and obligations, laws, social customs, and sources of food and water. Droyne can navigate through unknown territory, following ancestral paths identifiable through topographical features given significance in the song cycles. Social life is complex and conservative. Precedence for any action has to be found in the myths or to be inspired by the lives of legendary heroes.
