Oirios is a poor, low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in population size.
- This poor world is struggling to establish itself and living conditions in many areas are rudimentary.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Sena Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data
Koochi-Oirios System
The primary is Koochi, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.048 Sols, a mass of 0.5052 Sols, and a diameter of 769,000 km. (I-I) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, and (I-II) Oirios, designated the mainworld, have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II-I) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, (II-II) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, (II-III) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (IV) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (V) a dense icy planetoid belt, (VI) a large gas giant, (VII) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (VIII) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(I-II) Oirios
(I-II) Oirios is designated the mainworld. It orbits Koochi at a mean distance of 0.22 AU (32.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 53 days 1 hour: it is tidally locked to Koochi. The axial tilt is 17 degrees. Oirios has a diameter of 2,935 km, a density of 4.46 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.19 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Very Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.18 bar and a composition of 87% nitrogen (N2), 12% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the low percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 33% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.6m. Mean surface temperature: 12°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Cool and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is sluggish and weak weather systems driven by the star and the seas drift across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 27 million km², Land surface area: 18 million km², Water surface area: 9 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Koochi-Oirios System
The temperate hospitable world lying in orbital position (I-I) (within the habitable zone) has primitive native life, consisting almost entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
Oirios, the mainworld, has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II-III) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Oirios has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Oirios possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World government
Oirios is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
World military
Oirios has no domestic armed forces.
World Economy
- Resources: 9 (Moderate)
- Labor: 1 (Tens)
- Infrastructure: 1 (Extremely limited)
- Efficiency: −3 (Poor)
Trade Data
No information yet available.
World Demographics
Population 100
Port Oirios
Port Oirios is the main downport. Oirios Startown, adjacent to the downport, is home to the world's entire population. The community is broadly dispersed.
Oirios Surface Storage Facility
A vast holding facility run by the corporate government. The facility is largely automated and contains a large number of semi-autonomous robots, including self-driving vehicles, which carry out mundane duties. The corporation employs mercenary Security forces to police the facility.
World Culture
- Homogeneity: 3 (Monolithic)
- Acceptance: 1 (Extremely xenophobic)
- Strangeness: 7 (Insular, hierarchical)
- Symbols: 6 (corporate terminology)
