Oewni is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.

  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This world toils under the control of a military government with conditions reflecting that situation including curtailed civil rights and limited freedoms.
  • It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Shallows Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector in the Domain of Vland.
  • This world contains an Imperial Scout Base, capable of handling IISS starships and personnel.

Description (Planetology)

Oewni was one of several worlds in Shallows to be land granted by Makhidkarun to the Universal Church of God in order to ensure that the existing colonists would be prevented in the future from 'further' rebellion against the Imperium. The system's inhabitants, primarily Lancians and Ziadd, were forcibly 'converted' to Universalism against their will and so began a dark age of religious and cultural repression that was to last for centuries.

History & Background (Dossier)

During the Long Night this world was named Zikhiirke.

During the period known as the Civil War, many of the native Lancian and Ziadd descendants took the opportunity to rebel against the church and eventually, after a long and bloody uprising, successfully overthrew the existing church led government. Despite partial recognition by the Imperium, Oweni is still the subject of fierce legal debate as the Universal Church (as the government in exile) and the currant Lancian government make claim and counter claim as to which of them is the legally appointed government. The argument is made even more awkward by the fact that even today nearly 50% of the population are practicing Univeralists.
