System Data

Protus-Ocilian System

The primary is Protus, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.352 Sols, a mass of 0.774 Sols, and a diameter of 1.168 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, and (II) an exotic atmosphere radworld. (III) the habitable zone is empty. (IV) a vacuum worldlet, (V) a vacuum iceworld, (VI) Ocilian, designated the mainworld, and (VII) a ringed small gas giant form the outer system. The gas giant retains a satellite.

Kersall Subsystem

The companion is Kersall, a dim red subdwarf star that orbits Protus at 597 AU (orbital position (XIV), 89 billion km) and has an orbital period of 16,580 years. It has a luminosity of 0.00152 Sols, a mass of 0.093 Sols, and a diameter of 127,000 km. (II) a vacuum worldlet forms the outer system – orbital position (I) is empty. The worldlet retains no satellites.

Mainworld Data

(VI) Ocilian

(VI) Ocilian is designated the mainworld. It orbits Protus at a mean distance of 2.62 AU (392 million km), within the outer system. It has an orbital period of 4 years 300 days and a rotation period of 53.5 hours. The axial tilt is 4 degrees. Ocilian has a diameter of 11,713 km, a density of 6.23 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 10.4 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Exotic, with a mean surface pressure of 1.36 bar and a composition of 94% nitrogen (N2), 3% methane (CH4), 1% azane (NH3), 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), and 1% ethane (C2H6), diacetylene (C4H2), propane (C3H8) and other trace gases. Less than 2% of the surface is covered in lakes of liquid methane. Mean surface temperature: -175°C. The climate is rated as Frigid and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and powerful weather systems driven by the star sweep across the globe.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Total surface area: 431 million km², Land surface area: 422 million km², Fluid surface area: 9 million km².

Native Lifeforms

Protus-Ocilian System

No world in the system is known to have native life.

Kersall Subsystem

No world in the subsystem is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)

No information yet available.

World starport

Ocilian has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

World technology level

Ocilian possesses a Technology Level of TL–8.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics, improved telephones, and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Improved geothermal and improved batteries.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Advanced automobiles.
    • Water: Triphibians and early artificial gills.
    • Air: Improved helicopters and hypersonic jets.
    • Space: Space shuttles, early space stations, and improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World government

Ocilian has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Military
