Nug is a poor, non-agricultural and nonindustrial world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It has few prospects for economic development. Life here is drastically bleak.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Farin Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System Data
Gangan-Nug System
The primary is Gangan, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I) Regent, a spectacularly ringed small gas giant orbits in the habitable zone: (Ib) Nug is its second satellite and is designated the mainworld. (II) a vacuum worldlet, (III) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (IV) a large gas giant, (V) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (VI) a vacuum iceworld, (VII) an exotic atmosphere radworld, (VIII-I) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (VIII-II) a vacuum iceworld, and (X) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system – orbital position (IX) is empty. Most of the worlds retain satellites.
(I) Regent
(I) Regent is a small gas giant that orbits Gangan at a mean distance of 0.17 AU (25.4 million km), within the habitable zone, and has an orbital period of 36 days 15 hours. It has a diameter of 32,000 km and an atmosphere consisting of 90% hydrogen (H2), 10% helium (He), and less than 1% methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3), water vapor (H2O) and other trace gases. It is a faintly banded reddish-brown color with large semi-permanent equatorial storms. It retains a family of three major satellites. Regent has a very thin, extremely reflective ring system.
Satellites
Regent has a ring system and retains three major satellites:
- (Ir) Ring System (UWP YR00000-0, extending to 2 Diameters/65,000 km)
- (Ia) Goro (UWP Y201000-0, orbiting at 6 Diameters/190,000 km)
- (Ib) Nug (designated the mainworld, orbiting at 13 Diameters/415,000 km)
- (Ic) Musgu (UWP Y310000-0, orbiting at 20 Diameters/640,000 km)
Mainworld Data
(Ib) Nug
(Ib) Nug is the second and largest of the three moons of (I) Regent and is designated the mainworld. Nug orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 13 diameters (415,000 km), with an orbital period of 40 days 9 hours: it is tidally locked to Regent. It has an axial tilt of 5 degrees relative to Regent. It has a diameter of 4,973 km, a density of 5.29 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.37 G. Tidal stresses caused by the gravitational pull of Regent cause frequent geological activity. Nug retains an atmosphere rated as Very Thin, with a surface pressure of 0.26 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 18% oxygen (O2), 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), neon (Ne), ozone (O3), xenon (Xe) and other trace gases. Around 22% of the surface is covered in lakes and seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges are around 0.5m. Mean surface temperature: 10°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Cool and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and moderate dust-laden weather systems driven by the star and the seas sweep across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 78 million km², Land surface area: 61 million km², Water surface area: 17 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Gangan-Nug System
Nug, the mainworld, has extensive but primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic mesophile organisms that exist in any location that has a source of moisture. Their metabolic processes maintain a cycle of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Nug has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Nug possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World government
Nug is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
