Nug is a poor, non-agricultural and nonindustrial world.

  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
  • It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • It has few prospects for economic development. Life here is drastically bleak.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Farin Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System Data

Gangan-Nug System

The primary is Gangan, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.04 Sols, a mass of 0.489 Sols and a diameter of 764,000 km. (I) Regent, a spectacularly ringed small gas giant orbits in the habitable zone: (Ib) Nug is its largest satellite and is designated the mainworld. (II) a rocky vacuum world, (III) a sparse icy planetoid belt, (IV) a large gas giant, (V) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (VI) a vacuum iceworld, (VII) an exotic atmosphere radworld, (VIII) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (IX) a vacuum iceworld, and (X) a trace atmosphere iceworld form the outer system. Most of the worlds retain satellites.

(I) Regent

(I) Regent is a small gas giant that orbits Gangan at a mean distance of 0.17 AU (25.4 million km) and has an orbital period of 36 days 15 hours. It has a diameter of 42,000km and is a faintly banded brown colour. It retains a family of three major satellites of which the second, (Ib) Nug, is designated the mainworld. The gas giant has a very thin but extremely reflective ring system.

Mainworld Data

(Ib) Nug

(Ib) Nug is the second and largest of the three moons of (I) Regent and is designated the mainworld. Nug orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 30 diameters (1.26 million km), with an orbital period of 96 days 6 hours: it is tidally locked to Regent. It has an axial tilt of 5 degrees. It has a diameter of 4,973 km, a density of 5.29 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.37 G. Tidal stresses caused by the gravitational pull of Regent cause geological activity. Nug retains an atmosphere rated as Very Thin, with a surface pressure of 0.16 bar and a composition of 80% nitrogen, 17% oxygen, 2% carbon dioxide and 1% argon, neon and other trace gases. Around 22% of the surface is covered in lakes and seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges are around 0.5m. Mean surface temperature: 10°C. The atmosphere is relatively turbulent and enormous storms carrying large amounts of dust roll across the world. The climate is static and weather patterns, driven by the star, follow predictable patterns during the local year.

Mainworld geography and topography

Total surface area: 78 million km², Land surface area: 61 million km², Water surface area: 17 million km².

Native lifeforms

Nug has extensive but primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic organisms that exist in any location that has a source of water. Their metabolic processes maintain a cycle of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)

No information yet available.

World starport

Nug has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level

Nug possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

World government

Nug is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
