The two "types" of "shipbuilding concerns" refer to different versions of the Traveller rules. Some versions (such as Traveller 5, which is the "manual" quoted in the article) use codes for specific sizes of power plant, in-system drive, and jump drive, and use a Nexus to assemble odd sizes, adding up the masses, costs, power usage, and other performance factors. Some versions just specify the performance of the resulting plant or drive, and calculate statistics from there.
If this comes up during a game, modeling this as different ship builders making the same thing but using different standards suffices to explain any resulting confusion. It's a big galaxy. Atymes (talk) 14:58, 25 March 2019 (EDT)
