Nemis is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Natar Subsector of Far Home Sector.
- Nemis is a Voluntarily Regressive World
- It is one of the New Members
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- It is a part of the Risa Cluster.

System Data
Warren-Nemis System
The primary is Warren, an orange subgiant star. It has a luminosity of 4.67 Sols, a mass of 2.3 Sols, and a diameter of 4.592 million km. The inner system consists of (II-I) a vacuum inner world, (II-II) a trace atmosphere inner world, (III) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (IV) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world – orbital position (I) is empty. (V) Nemis orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (VI) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VII) a large gas giant, and (IX) a ringed small gas giant form the outer system – orbital position (VIII) is empty. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(V) Nemis
(V) Nemis is designated the mainworld. It orbits Warren at a mean distance of 1.53 AU (228.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 91 days and a rotation period of 44 hours. The axial tilt is 44 degrees. Nemis has a diameter of 16,608 km, a density of 4.75 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.19 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 1.79 bar and a composition of 69% nitrogen (N2), 29% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the high percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 46% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 36°C. The climate is rated as Hot and experiences major seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the seas surge across the globe.
Satellite
Nemis retains a single natural satellite, a cratered trace atmosphere worldlet named Venden:
- (Va) Venden (UWP Y310000-0, orbiting at 25 Diameters/415,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 867 million km², Land surface area: 468 million km², Water surface area: 399 million km².
Native lifeforms
Warren-Nemis System
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (VI) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive cryophile native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that thrive in the harsh conditions. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Nemis, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the subsystem is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Nemis has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Nemis possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World government
Nemis is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
