Murada is a ring of many small worldlets (planetoids AKA an "asteroid belt"), not capable of retaining an atmosphere or water, and are both non-agricultural and nonindustrial in nature.

  • These worldlets warrant hazardous environment precautions.
  • Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
  • They require extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • The worldlets are, for the most part, unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
  • These worldlets have very few prospect for economic expansion.
  • It is a member of The Last Line in the Murada Subsector of Halcyon Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.
  • This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.

System Data

Bessel-Murada System

The primary is Bessel, a red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.134 Sols, a mass of 0.396 Sols and a diameter of 551,000 km. (I) the Murada Main Belt, designated the mainworld, (II) a vacuum iceworld, (III) a very thin atmosphere bigworld, (IV) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (V) a large gas giant, (VI) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, and (VIII) a sparse icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data

(I) Murada Main Belt

(I) the Murada Main Belt orbits within the outer system and is designated the mainworld. It lies at a mean distance of 0.3 AU from the star and is primarily made up of carbonaceous bodies with diameters of less than 200 km. The inner edge of the belt, with a higher concentration of nickel-iron bodies, is considered to lie at around 0.2 AU from the star and the the outer edge of the belt is considered to lie at approximately 0.4 AU. The main inhabited body is named Murada Prime, with a mean orbital distance of 0.25 AU around Bessel and an orbital period of 41 days 6 hours. It has a long axis of 350 km, a density of 3.77 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.019 G. It retains no atmosphere and has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -95°C in sunlight, -190°C in shadow.

Mainworld Size (S)

This world is an Asterioid Belt or Planetoid Belt consisting of a few very large objects with diameters of hundreds of kilometers, thousands of bodies of a few kilometers in diameter, and millions of smaller objects. Asteroid Belt is used when the belt is the mainworld of a system. Planetoid Belt refers to any non-mainworld belt within a system.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

This world has a pressure of less than 0.001 atmospheres which requires the use of a Vacc Suit. TL–8 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

This world has no free-standing water or ice on the surface. Wilderness refueling isn't possible on this world. Water for the inhabitants needs to be imported and extensively recycled. These worlds are classified Desert World or a Hell World depending on their atmosphere.

Native lifeforms

No world in the Murada system is known to have native life.

World starport

Murada has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World technology level

Murada possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World government

Murada is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World military

This planet features prominently in the arsenal of the The Last Line forces. Their famed Murada 2T Grav Tank and the tough as coffin nails Murada Class Battle Riders are exemplars of their martial prowess.
