Mesiter is an icy, non-agricultural world, whose surface is ice-capped and with nearly all of its water frozen.
- It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
- It is a main world which is a satellite of either a gas giant or another world.
- It is an unclaimed Non-Aligned world located in the Lordan Subsector of Divide Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- It forms a part of the Glitterdrift Reach.

System Data
Mesiter System
The primary is an unnamed ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0334 Sols, a mass of 0.4574 Sols, and a diameter of 711,000 km. (I) an exotic atmosphere radworld orbits within the habitable zone. (II) Chepon, a ringed large gas giant: (IIc) Mesiter is its third moon and is designated the mainworld, (III) a large gas giant, (IV-I) a small gas giant, and (IV-II) a small ice giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
(II) Chepon
(II) Chepon is a ringed large gas giant that orbits the primary at a mean distance of 0.41 AU (61.3 million km), within the H+ region of the outer system, and has an orbital period of 141 days 19 hours. It has a diameter of 116,000 km and an atmosphere consisting of 90% hydrogen (H2), 10% helium (He), and less than 1% methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO), ammonia (NH3), water vapor (H2O) and other trace gases. It is a banded brown-tan color. A pair of huge red-brown storms, with diameters in excess of 30,000 km, lie on the equator of the world. It retains a family of four major satellites.
Satellites
Chepon retains a narrow dark ring system and four major satellites:
- (IIr) Ring System (UWP YR00000-0, extending to 1 Diameter/115,000 km)
- (IIa) Salut (UWP ?200???-?, orbiting at 4 Diameters/465,000 km)
- (IIb) Lem (UWP ?4A1???-?, orbiting at 5 Diameters/580,000 km)
- (IIc) Mesiter (designated the mainworld, orbiting at 10 Diameters/1.15 million km)
- (IId) Varan (UWP ?100???-?, orbiting at 13 Diameters/1.51 million km)
Mainworld Data
(IIc) Mesiter
(IIc) Mesiter is the third of the four major moons of (II) Chepon and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 10 diameters (1.15 million km), with an orbital period of 101 days 9 hours: it is tidally locked to Chepon. The axial tilt is 0 degrees relative to Chepon. Mesiter has a diameter of 2,848 km, a density of 4.36 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.18 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Chepon cause regular geological activity. The atmosphere is rated as Trace, with a mean surface pressure of 0.008 bar and a composition of 95% nitrogen (N2), 4% carbon dioxide (CO2), and 1% argon (Ar), ammonia (NH3), methane (CH4), water vapor (H2O) and other trace gases. Around 18% of the surface is covered in sheets of water-ice. Mean surface temperature: -65°C.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 25.5 million km², Land surface area: 20.9 million km², Ice surface area: 4.6 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Mesiter System
The warm exotic atmosphere radworld lying in orbital position (I) (within the habitable zone) has extensive, bizarre native life, consisting of complex radiation-tolerant organisms that thrive in the harsh conditions. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the Mesiter system is known to have native life.
