The star Merope (otherwise known as 23 Tauri) is a member of the Pleiades Cluster of stars, and appears as a lucid violet-white. It is of spectral type B6 and has begun its evolution off the main sequence as the supply of hydrogen fuel in its core begins to run low.

Description (Specifications)

The Merope star system is approximately 116.6pc from Terra, and is located in a Spinrimward/Rimward direction from Terra at bearing 166.6o Galactic Longitude and -23.75o South Galactic Latitude.

History & Background (Dossier)

Though it is in the same local area of space, Merope is NOT the primary star of the world Merope/Firdausi (Aldebaran 2604), which orbits a star of spectral type G3 V. The primary star of the world Merope does lie close to the actual location of the star named Merope, however, and likely lends the world its name.
