The Marzians of Marz (Deneb 0201) are a technologically sophisticated Minor Non-Human Race with a semi-humanoid appearance.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The people widely known as Marzians, or sometimes Martians, call themselves by a number of words all of which translate as 'us', 'we' 'the intelligent people of the forests' or other typical self-names.

Physiology[edit]

Physically, the Marzians are lightly built semi-humanoids with long arms, reflecting their evolution in the warm, spindly forests where most still make their homes.

There are four arms, which are capable of operating independently on unrelated tasks.

The elongated head features rows of spiracles that cut diagonally across each side. These grow or shrink in size, sometimes closing to protect the delicate exchange surfaces within.

Society[edit]

Traditional villages consist of a handful of extended families, creating a polity whose various names translate as 'us' or 'my village' with no attempt to identify which one it is to an outsider. Marzians seem to make no distinction between gradients of the foreign; the neighbouring village and a world on the other side of the Imperium are equally understood as "not us" and given, apparently, the same significance.

Traditional society uses a curious mix of what are essentially stone-age techniques and materials, mid-tech tools and occasional imported equipment. Thus a traditional village is TL–0 to TL–1 but the people will make adept use of literally any device or tool they can lay their hands on.
