• Its surface is ice-capped with nearly all of its water frozen.
• It is a member of the Firstworlds in the Esqua Subsector of Far Home Sector.

Ballan System

The primary is Ballan, an ordinary red main sequence star. Ballan and Orith, the companion star, orbit their barycenter at a mean separation of 3 AU (449.2 million km) and have an orbital period around one another of 6 years 40 days. Ballan has a luminosity of 0.0202 Sols, a mass of 0.3942 Sols, and a diameter of 604,000 km. (I) a vacuum iceworld, (II) an exotic atmosphere radworld, and (III) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. None of the worlds retain satellites.

Orith-Magada Subsystem

The companion is Orith, a dim red main sequence star. Orith and Ballan, the primary star, orbit their barycenter at a mean separation of 3 AU (orbital position (VI), 449.2 million km) and have an orbital period around one another of 6 years 40 days. Orith has a luminosity of 0.007 Sols, a mass of 0.331 Sols, and a diameter of 498,000 km. (I) a vacuum iceworld, (II) a vacuum iceworld, and (III) Ramuka, a large gas giant: (IIIc) Magada is its largest satellite and is designated the mainworld; form the outer system. Only Ramuka retains satellites.

(III) Ramuka

(III) Ramuka is a large gas giant that orbits Orith at a mean distance of 0.68 AU (101.7 million km), within the habitable zone, and has an orbital period of 356 days. It has a diameter of 212,000 km and is a faintly banded pale green colour. It retains a family of five major satellites of which the third, (IIIc) Magada, is designated the mainworld.

(IIIc) Magada

(IIIc) Magada is the third of the five major moons of (III) Ramuka and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 35 diameters (7.42 million km), with an orbital period of 3 years 133 days: it is tidally locked to Ramuka. The axial tilt is 3 degrees. Magada has a diameter of 6,217 km, a density of 4.65 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.41 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Ramuka cause regular geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Trace, with a mean surface pressure of 0.04 bar and a composition of 98% nitrogen (N₂), 1% methane (CH₄), and 1% water vapor (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), carbon monoxide (CO), neon (Ne), and other trace gases. Background radiation levels are relatively high: emission rates exceed 2 rads per hour. Approximately 11% of the surface is covered in sheets of water-ice. Mean surface temperature: -146°C.
