The Macropan Screamer class Attack Shuttle is a combatant smallcraft.
- It is a military ship and a Attack Shuttle.
- Please also see Ships of the Distant Fringe.
Description / Specifications
The Attack Shuttle is a multi-role craft used in a variety of circumstances. Similar designs have been in use from the time the Distant Fringe was first settled. This is an armed and armored version of the design produced locally on Salatho (world). They serve among a variety of nations as part of the Salatho National Military Forces.
- The vessel is a TL-9 design.
Basic Ship Characteristics
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]
No. | Category | Remarks |
---|---|---|
1. | Tonnage | TBD tons. The Attack Shuttle is constructed using a 90-dTon hull built in a generally cone-shaped configuration. The hull is fully streamlined and fitted with fuel scoops for ocean refueling.
|
2. | Crew | The Attack Shuttle requires 1 crew: a Pilot/Weapons Officer |
3. | Performance | The vessel mounts a maneuver-6 drive and a power plant 6, giving performance of 6G acceleration. The ship has an agility rating of 1. There is fuel tankage of 5.4 dTons, giving the power plant 4 weeks duration. |
4. | Electronics | The vessel is equipped with a bridge mounted computer model/3 and a pilot’s acceleration couch: there is an additional cockpit couch. There is one small stateroom for extended life support.
|
5. | Hardpoints | x1 hardpoint. |
6. | Armament | The normal weapons fit-out for it is:

History & Background (Dossier)
A relatively low-tech design used throughout the Salatho (world) system by a variety of nations. Its 6G speed is useful for interception of civilian craft, but it lacks the turn and burn agility of a true dog fighter. Small squadrons of these craft harry would be invaders and act as system defense craft. The single crew member has excellent factor 7 armor protection and a powerful triple beam laser battery to destroy enemy fighters. The advanced model 3 computer drains power as do the lasers, which is what limits the agility from what designers had hoped for. Doubling the size of the drives and fusion power plant, and the layers of thick hull armor plating dramatically increases the unit price for this design.
