A gigantic red Sun shines from a heavily clouded Sky. There is no wind. The mornings are cold, the nights are very, very cold. The atmospheric pressure is comparable to earth conditions in a depth of 575 m. The humidity is very high. The gravity is slightly lower than earth standard. A standard sized human (80kg) will weigh about 58 kg. Lasen is a non-industrial world.

Lasen is a world of above average importance, with below average resources and a very small labour force as well as a very weak infrastructure. The overall efficiency is mediocre. Refined Fuel is available. Spaceships up to 100 tons can be built. The port facilities are about average for its class. Each year 19525 passengers are handled and .51 Million tons of cargo shipped. BIOLOGY : Practical nanosurgery. First brain implants. Partial theory of aging.
MEDICINE : Practical nanosurgery (still too expensive for widespread use). Partial panimmunity. Neural implants can interface directly with the brain, treating certain kinds of mental dysfunction. Cheap, reliable clone transplants.
ENVIRONMENTAL : Gravitic support of large buildings. Grav technology allows stationary floating cities late in the period. Advanced weather control. Incremental advances in terraforming techniques, advanced ecosystem reconstruction.
