Background
Built for the Varellan Empire, the Kwang Class Missile Cruiser is a streamlined needle/wedge structure with scoops and purification for ocean refueling. It carries a pair of 60 ton shuttles, and twenty 20 ton light fighters, organized into two squadrons. The hull is lightly armored and capable of 6 G's of acceleration and average agility. There is enough internal fuel storage for two jump 1's without refueling, and a back up model 4 fib computer is carried. The marine platoon has 33 drop capsules. The designed intention of the ship is to kill enemy ships of the line with the spinal mounted particle accelerator. The fusion guns are reserved for point defense and the beam laser battery is used to dissuade smaller craft. The numerous 100 ton missile bays are for orbital bombardment, this arsenal can force poorly defended planets to capitulate to a single vessel of this class. The fighter squadrons are used for system scouting and to provide CAS for the marine platoon, who recover using the ship's pair of shuttles. The frozen watch can be used for extra troops, or to provide replacement for crew loses. The vessel mounts the following weapon systems:
- 30 heavy missile bays,
- 20 triple sand caster turrets, firing as 2 batteries
- 10 dual fusion gun turrets, firing as 20 batteries
- 1 particle accelerator spinal mount
- 1 repulsor bay and
- 10 triple laser turrets, firing as 1 battery.
