History and background

Khusgulur was originally settled during the First Imperium as a mining colony. The surface proved so inhospitable due to the extremely low temperatures the colony was established deep underground.

During the Long Night the planet was finally mined out, but the Khusgulur no longer had the means to leave. As technology wore out the Khusgulur were forced to adapt physically. Their eyes became more sensitive to light, allowing them to see better in low light. They adapted to living on the native animal and plant life that existed in the tunnels. Claustrophobia was completely bred out of them. They turned to the manufacture of ceramics to replace the metal they no longer had.

When the planet was rediscovered during the Kurlishe Eraki trade expansion, the Khusgulur were almost a race apart. They were experts in the manufacture of ceramics but were now photophobic, agoraphobic, and now required certain unique enzymes found only in their food-chain to survive.

In 1105 the Khusgulur are the major manufacturers of ceramics of the whole of Dagudashaag Sector.

Their enzyme dependence makes it impossible for them to colonize other worlds. They have strictly enforced population controls and death penalty for all crimes. Visitors to the world are restricted to the surface starport and may not enter the cities. The starport is primarily for trade and has never been upgraded.

Local Nobility

Khusgulur, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estates of two members of the Imperial Nobility, who are charged with overseeing the world.
