Keng had a tainted atmosphere and limited access to surface water, making it poorly suited to sophont habitation. The system has a population in the hundreds of millions, and suited to being a industrial worlds. This world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor. This a low technology world with technology competency below the standard for Charted Space. This is a temperate world, with a climate of average temperatures. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Regina Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Domain of Deneb. Keng, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight and the fiefdoms of a marquis and a viscount. All three are members of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world.
Astrography & Planetology
Keng's system has two gas giants, one much closer to the primary and one very far out.
Keng is an isolated frontier world only a few parsecs away from the Vargr Extents, off the Spinward Main and difficult to reach due to Red Zoned worlds and planets with very poor starports along the way. Those trade ships that come through Keng find little to offer in the markets besides agricultural products.
The system also has Freeport, constructed on a rocky cometary body in the Oort Cloud, about half a light-year from the system’s primary. Freeport is an independent port open to ships of any description, and a home to some 11,000 permanent residents living in habitat tunnels within the Freeport Rock.
The station was constructed on a rocky cometary body, has facilities equivalent to an E class starport, and a population of 20,000 people. Freeport was an independent state in its own right in the Antebellum period, probably because of a deal cut with the Imperial government or its megacorporate viceroys, and did not recognize any other authority. That independence became a victim of the Quarantine, and the station received a permanent RQS presence in 1132, though it remains an important stopover point for ships journeying from the Vargr Splinters.

The wood of the famed Keng oak is much sought after for furniture on richer worlds because of its beautiful grain and deep, rich color.
History & Background (Dossier)
The mainworld was settled several centuries ago. But as the population increased and dispersed, the Tech Level gradually fell as the startup equipment wore out before an indigenous technological base was created. Today the population of Keng is scattered about the planet in central cities built around the original colony sites, with large areas of wilderness in between. Most of the cities are linked by a vast rail network.
Areas of the planet have hardly been explored or even surveyed from orbit since the days of the first landings centuries ago. The Keng Outbackers who have settled in the wilderness areas are a resourceful and resilient lot who value their weapons greatly.
In addition to Keng Startown, other major settlements on the mainworld include Kapash, Sumiburg, Kesher, Adur, Pas Town, and Egugur.
