The Kankurur is a large bird of prey native to Vland (Vland 1717).
Physiology and ecology
It has been successfully transplanted to a number of planets, including several in the Daibei Sector and Dagudashaag Sector. A Kankurur has a beautful multi-coloured plumage, large unblinking eyes and and sharp, hooked talons capable of carrying up to 20 kg. Kankurur's are renowned for their bad tempers and evil dispositions.
History and background
Capable of carrying up to 20 kg in its talons, the bird was trained and used like the carrier pigeon of Terra (Solomani Rim 1827). The Kankurur could carry small cargos as well as paper messages.
The Kankurur has lent its name to the Kankurur-class G-Carrier used by the Scouts and Navy of the Third Imperium.
