Kamgikiik has a population between 10,000 and 10 million sophonts, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Pact Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Kamgikiik, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This is the homeworld of the Kamgik, a Human Ethnic Group. During the Long Night this world was named Gishaana.

History and background

The Kamgiks are an extremely conservative and unaggressive people that seems to revere all life. Descended primarily from Buddhist refugees from the Solomani Rim, the Kamgik are a hardworking and friendly people who seem to live in harmony with the planet

It comes as a shock to visitors that the Kamgiks are cannibalistic. At the funeral services, which can often go on for days, they eat the cooked body of their dead relations even down to grinding down the bones and mixing it with grain so that no part of the body is ‘rejected’. Even visitors to a feast are expected to partake of some of the less favoured parts.

Only once a youth has eaten of the 'Flesh' may they be named. They take on the name of the person they just consumed. This can cause confusion as the custom makes no distinction based on sex and as a result many female Kamgik's have male names and vice-versa.
