The Jump-Boat is a TL–15 small Courier.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
The JBoat is a modified TL–15 Ship's Boat used to supplement the XBoats for short haul runs. The JBoat makes maximum use of the standard ship's boat systems including identical power plant, main hull, etc.
The small crew is allowed by the use of pregenerated jump programs and the fact the craft will receive maintenance at the end of each jump. The fuel purifier is intended for emergency use only, or if the craft is pressed into service as a fleet courier, as XWeb operations do not call for frontier refueling.
The fourth computer is a dedicated data storage/retrieval unit, its capacity is entirely give over to the XWeb electronic message storage and can not be used for any normal computer tasks.
The variant shown here is the pure data/cargo variant. Small staterooms can be fitted at the expense of 2 tons of cargo each. Pure Courier variants are fitted with four additional small staterooms and have no cargo space.
For self-defense in high risk areas, the Jboat can be fitted with a laser lance at the expense of 2.4 tons of cargo space, and an additional MCr0.5522.
The Jump Drive is sized for the 100 ton minimum size for safe jumping. Even with that, crews frequently report rough jump transitions.
