Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance.

The Jesel class Fleet Tender is an auxiliary warship.

Description (Specifications)

It is a lightly armored, partially streamlined cylindrical structure with fuel scoops and on board fuel purification for wilderness gas giant refueling. The ship is capable of Jump-2, and carries enough internal fuel for two jumps. They are fitted with 28 days of extra power plant fuel and well as another Jump-2 drop tank for increased range when crossing rift zones. The maneuver drives develop 1G acceleration with a 1-Agility rating. For combat management and defense it carries a Model/5 fib ship computer adjacent to the main bridge.

It is armed with ten 100 ton missile bays, a particle accelerator bay, a repulsor bay and eight triple sand caster turrets for defense. The design was originally envisioned as a light cruiser, the massive fusion power plant and particle accelerator spinal mount were never assembled in time and rather than scrap it, the fleet re-purposed it. The fleet uses these to move two 1,000 ton Murada class Battle Riders and two 100 ton Last Line class Fleet Couriers. This allows the couriers to scout farther from the fleet.

It carries a small squadron of ten 10 ton fighters to cover the deployment and recovery of its riders.

History & Background (Dossier)

In Service: 2. Built locally at Jesel for the The Last Line, which is the youngest state within the Distant Fringe, located in the coreward/spinward quadrant of Halcyon Sector. They use this class to patrol and defend seven star systems.

Distant Fringe Vessels

The Distant Fringe is said to be a far spinward-rimward area inhabited by colonists and refugees originating on Terra. The region is extremely isolated, separated from the rest of Charted Space by vast, almost uncrossable rifts that were once broached by a system of calibration Points and the use of tankers. Those few academics within Charted Space who have found references to the Distant Fringe regard it as little more than a tall tale. Likewise, many of the inhabitants of the Distant Fringe believe the existence of Charted Space to be mythical.[3]

Vessels originating within the Distant Fringe are very rarely encountered outside of the region. However, misjumps do occur and anomalies with bizarre spacetime and Jumpspace effects exist: as such, craft of this type are not entirely unknown within Charted Space.[4]

Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities

Each vessel within the class is named by the government of the state that produces it. They generally draw on traditional naming protocols and it is not uncommon for a historical class name to be reused.

  • Individual vessels within the class are issued specific serial numbers and transponder codes.
  • Naming a ship is considered a serious affair and is generally accompanied by a traditional ceremony, usually pouring a local beverage over the bows of the craft. Starfarers tend to be superstitious folk and a ship with a frivolous name is considered "unlucky".
