Jejant is a nonindustrial hellworld with a population struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Abidal Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Description / Astrography & Planetology
- This world lies within the Rissa Gateway region.
- This world lies on the Scybrian Run Star Lane.

System Data
The system primary is Juno, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It retains a family of (I, II) two inner rocky worlds. (III) Lostallo, a small gas giant, orbits in Juno's habitable zone; Jejant is its largest satellite and is designated as the mainworld. (IV, V, VI) three small rocky worlds, (VII, VIII) two large gas giants, and (IX) a final rocky exotic atmosphere world form the outer system. The fringe of the system is marked by two planetoid belts, (X) the Inner Sparkles and (XI) the Outer Sparkles, which contain a large number of icy bodies. Many of the worlds in the system retain families of satellites.
(III) Lostallo
(III) Lostallo is a small gas giant that orbits Juno at a mean distance of 0.7 AU and has an orbital period of 1 year 29.5 days. It has a diameter of 52,000km and is a heavily banded deep green colour. It retains a family of four major satellites of which the third, (IIIc) Jejant, is designated the system mainworld. Huge storms, sometimes covering as much as a fifth of the surface of the gigantic planet, occasionally rise from deep within the interior and mix the bands into swirls.
(IIIc) Jejant
(IIIc) Jejant is the third of the four major moons of Lostallo, orbitting its parent world at a mean distance of 2.35 million km, with an orbital period of 75 days 18 hours and a rotation period of 23.25 hours. It is designated as the mainworld. It has a diameter of 7813 km, a density of 5.32 g/cm³ and a surface gravity of 0.59 G. It retains an atmosphere rated as standard, tainted, with a surface pressure of 0.85 bar and a composition of 88% nitrogen, 11% oxygen, and 1% argon, carbon dioxide, neon and other trace gases. The atmospheric taint is caused by the low percentage of oxygen and by relatively high levels of background radiation. Around 9% of the surface is covered in lakes and seas of heavily saline liquid water. Tidal stresses caused by the gravitational pull of Lostallo cause occasional seismic activity. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year. Jejant is generally cold and dry, with temperatures averaging around 6ºC. Equatorial temperatures are marginally higher whilst the poles are substantially colder.
Mainworld Geography & Topography
The Sicklespine Range dominates much of the equator: the peak of Mount Desolation, its highest point, marks the world's prime meridian. The Sicklespines give way to the Nilo Highlands and the parched Borius Dust Plains in the northern hemisphere. A single sea called the Longwater lies along the southern edge of the Sicklespines. It is surrounded by a large number of brackish lakes that eventually become the Inferus Dust Plains in the southern hemisphere. Both the northern and southern polar regions are arid and intensely cold. The atmosphere is relatively turbulent and enormous storms carrying large amounts of dust roll across the world.
Native Lifeforms
Jejant has extensive native life, though no lifeform (or at least no lifeform discovered so far) is larger than a multicellular micro-organism. Rumours persist of networks of caverns deep in the outback, filled with bizarre ecosystems and caches of mineral riches.
History & Background / Dossier
Jejant (2611 Halcyon), the largest moon of the system's inner gas giant, is largely arid, dust-scoured outback.
World Starport
Jejant has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
World Technology Level
Jejant possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
- Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
- Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
- Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
- FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.
World Government
Jejant is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
World Military
No information yet available.
World Economy
- Resources: A (Abundant)
- Labor: 5 (Hundreds of thousands)
- Infrastructure: 1 (Extremely limited)
- Efficiency: +3 (Improved )
Trade Data
Jejant lies on the Scybrian Run Star Lane, an important commercial axis crossing the Border Rifts. It largely subsists on mining.
World Demographics
Population: 5,000,000
World Culture
- Homogeneity: 7 (Discordant)
- Acceptance: 6 (Aloof)
- Strangeness: 7

Urbanization
The majority of the population inhabits a single sprawling equatorial city called Falldon, lying on the northern shores of the Longwater. It is surrounded by small mining communities linked by an efficient monorail network.
