Mainworld Atmosphere
Ixion's exotic atmosphere is heavily inundated with C02, as are its small, slushy, polar seas. An unusually long day-night cycle of 32 hours produces considerable temperature variations, enough to cause puddles of C02 to freeze overnight, to then sublime into clouds of "dry ice" vapor in the morning.

Native Lifeforms
There is a robust native ecosphere that has not been extensively studied. Large, complex animal forms are found here, at least one of which is highly intelligent, bordering on sapience.
Native Sophont: Creature of Ixion
This elusive hermaphroditic species is in fact semi-intelligent, akin to a typical Chirper in intellect. It reproduces parthenogenetically by injecting fertilised eggs into the bodies of suitable prey.
