Irissa is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Natar Subsector of Far Home Sector.
- Irissa is a Voluntarily Regressive World
Astrography and Planetology[edit]
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data[edit]
Ardinos-Irissa System[edit]
The primary is Ardinos, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.352 Sols, a mass of 0.774 Sols and a diameter of 1.168 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, and (II) a thin atmosphere hospitable world. (III) Irissa orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a dense atmosphere stormworld, (VI) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (VII) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system – orbital position (V) is empty. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data[edit]
(III) Irissa[edit]
(III) Irissa is designated the mainworld. It orbits Ardinos at a mean distance of 0.59 AU (88.3 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 188 days 4 hours and a rotation period of 20.5 hours. The axial tilt is 13 degrees. Irissa has a diameter of 8,311 km, a density of 5.16 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.61 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.53 bar and a composition of 83% nitrogen (N2), 15% oxygen (O2), 1% carbon dioxide (CO2) and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The atmospheric taint is caused by the relatively low percentage of atmospheric oxygen and the high levels of carbon dioxide. Approximately 53% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.25m. Mean surface temperature: 43°C. The climate is rated as Hot and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems driven by the star and the oceans scour the globe.
Satellites[edit]
Irissa retains two natural satellites, a cratered vacuum worldlet named Wasa and a standard atmosphere hospitable world named Faldo:
- (IIIa) Wasa (UWP Y100000-0, orbiting World at 35 Diameters/290,000 km)
- (IIIb) Faldo (UWP Y365000-0, orbiting World at 55 Diameters/455,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography[edit]
Total surface area: 217 million km², Water surface area: 115 million km², Land surface area: 102 million km².
Native Lifeforms[edit]
Ardinos-Irissa System[edit]
Irissa, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Faldo, Irissa's temperate hospitable outer moon, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
No information yet available.
World starport[edit]
Irissa has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World technology level[edit]
Irissa possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World government[edit]
Irissa is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
