Ik'sath is a non-agricultural, preindustrial, icy vacuum world, warranting hazardous environment precautions.

• Its surface is ice-capped with little or no atmosphere and nearly all of its water frozen.
• It is unable to produce quality foodstuffs and must import them.
• It is a world working toward being an industrial powerhouse but lacks an adequate workforce to do so.
• It is a member of the Sath Alliance in the Sarudis Subsector of Far Home Sector.

• This world-system hosts a Military Base, usually associated with military ground forces, which may be located on or off-world.
• Warning: humans are not welcome within the Sath Alliance. Those few humans that venture into its territory are generally met with a hostile reception and are closely monitored at all times.

System Data

Thiika-Ik'sath

The primary is Thiika, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0268 Sols, a mass of 0.4258 Sols, and a diameter of 658,000 km. (I-I) Cha'kka, a standard atmosphere hospitable world, and (I-II) Ik'sath, designated the mainworld, have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, and (III) a small gas giant form the outer system. The outer worlds retain satellites.

(I-I) Cha'kka

(I-I) Cha'kka (UWP F475668-A) is designated a standard atmosphere hospitable world. It orbits Thiika at a mean distance of 0.15 AU (22.4 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 32 days 13 hours: it is tidally locked to Thiika. The axial tilt is 5 degrees. Cha'kka has a diameter of 6,234 km, a density of 5.44 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.48 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Thiika cause frequent geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.78 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen (N₂), 21% oxygen (O₂), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H₂O), carbon dioxide (CO₂), ozone (O₃), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the low percentage of atmospheric oxygen and the relatively high levels of background radiation: emission rates exceed 3 rads per hour. Approximately 47% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.4m. Mean surface temperature: 33°C. The climate is rated as Hot and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and strong weather systems driven by the star and the seas drive across the globe.

(I-II) Ik'sath

(I-II) Ik'sath is designated the mainworld. It orbits Thiika at a mean distance of 0.22 AU (32.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 57 days 19 hours: it is tidally locked to Thiika. The axial tilt is 4 degrees relative to Thiika. Ik'sath has a diameter of 5,113 km, a density of 4.78 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.35 G. The world is geologically inert. Its atmosphere is rated as Vacuum. Approximately 17% of the surface is covered in sheets of water-ice. Mean surface temperature: 45°C in daylight.

• The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the twilight region.

Native Lifeforms

Thiika-Ik'sath

Cha'kka, the temperate hospitable world lying in orbital position (I-I) (within the habitable zone) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels and multicellular organisms that exist in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal and are gradually changing its composition.

No other world in the system is known to have native life.

World starport

Ik'sath has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
