Igikur is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Diamond-Prince Subsector of Ley Sector in the Domain of Gateway.
- Nearly 100% of the population is composed of Igikur.
- Less than 10% of the population is composed of baseline humans and other non-human sophonts.

System Data
The outsystem includes a number of rockball worlds and gas giant moons, some of which show signs of bombardment with nuclear explosives and kinetic-energy weapons. There is no sign of who or what was bombarded, or who carried out the attacks.
One moon of the small gas giant Irka was apparently cracked in half by the bombardment.
Mainworld Data
The surface of the planet shows some curious anomalies. Deep radioactive pits have been detected in the bedrock at various points around the globe, each filled with loose rock and covered over with soil to create a convincing landscape. All the craters are formed in groups, as if during an ancient war an attacker obliterated cities and defense sites. Not even the Vilani indulged in this level of overkill, however.
Mainworld Geography & Topography
Igikur is fairly dry, though capable of supporting life. However, there is little land life due to a poisonous atmospheric taint. Some analysts believe that this taint was acquired long after life developed, and is responsible for mass extinctions.
Native Lifeforms

Native Sophont (NIL): Igikur
In the depths of the small oceans live an octopus-like race known by the same name as their homeworld. The long-lived Igikur are xenophobic and suspicious of visitors, so little is known about them. It has been discerned that Igikur religion includes a God and a Destructor, neither of which seem to be shaped anything like an Igikur.

There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World Technology Level
Igikur possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World Government
Igikur is governed by a Civil Service Bureaucracy. The leadership of the government is another form (democracy, dictatorship, oligarchy), but the bureaucracy leadership influences policy. The government leadership may select the bureaucracy leadership, but not its membership. Usually the governmental leadership is divided, or incapable of setting policy and the bureaucracy provides a stabilizing influence. The bureaucracy may be the full government bureaucracy or a section with limited jurisdiction but considerable influence like the military.
