Ice Worlds or Ice-capped World are frozen worlds generally beyond the HZ.

  • Much, often the majority, of the world’s water is locked in icecaps. Sometimes all of it.
  • Planet or world type.

Description / Specifications

Despite the seeming definition, ice worlds are not covered completely in ice although a majority of their surface often possesses an extremely cold of frigid climate. However, bands of more temperate surface area may exist.

Planetary Characteristics

Ice worlds typically have cool or frozen climates and are not always completely covered over in ice, but they do have climates predominantly colder than is considered comfortable for most forms of conventional life.

History & Background / Dossier

Many interstellar speculators have been experimenting with unconventional foodstuff crops designed to thrive on cold or frozen worlds. Few have yet discovered commercially viable products to date, but many predict that cold-weather foodstuffs will one day be a widely sought out commodity.
