The primary is Uticula, an ordinary white main sequence star that lies within the Pador-Aredian cluster. It retains a family of six rocky worlds, an inner rocky planetoid belt, three gas giants, and an outer icy planetoid belt. Many of the worlds in the system retain satellites.

Iasanu orbits Uticula at a mean orbital distance of 1.0 AU. It is a large world with an above-average density and a surface gravity of 0.95G. It retains a nitrogen oxygen atmosphere with significant traces of argon and carbon dioxide. The atmosphere is rated as dense and has a surface pressure of 1.7 bar. Oceans of liquid water cover almost exactly half of the surface. The majority of the world's oceans are concentrated in the northern hemisphere, with large seas and lakes dotted around the southern equatorial regions.
