System Data

The local star is a large, luminous Red Giant which dominates the sky of Huderu.

Mainworld Data

The closest mountain range, the Ant Hills, lie 1000km from the prison, and are known to be riddled with empty mines from millennia ago.

  • As such, it makes a perfect prison planet. It carries the red trade zone designation, as it requires a government pass to visit. Perhaps more importantly, this system has no available starport and no gas giants. It also lies 2 parsecs from civilization, making it a one-way trip for even a Far-trader.
  • Arrangements for an official visit can be made at surrounding systems. A high-Jump government transport or a military capital ship are normally the means provided to travel to this remote dungeon.

World Starport

Huderu does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

  • The Huderu Station is the high port for this world. It is also the official offices of Warden Cruxlic, who is the administrator for Huderu. The Warden controls 4 shuttles which can land at the Downport Station. The Warden is accountable for the lives of the staff and prisoners, and controls day-to-day schedules for all activities in system: visitation, communication, supply delivery and distribution, salaries, medical care and travel. Prisoner deaths result in salary penalties for the Warden; monthly reports of the status and location of each prisoner are required.
  • The Downport is commanded by a Captain Doronal (Sven Doronol), who is supported by Lt. John Morover, Lt. Anthony Wellsalk, and 2nd Lt. Orin Brown who lead 1st, 2nd and 3rd platoons respectively. The Warden's office at Downport is lead by Director Anne Assiroff and Associate Director Jane Ivanov, both of Celepinan extraction. The two groups do not typically associate socially.

World Technology Level

Huderu possesses a Technology Level of TL–0.

  • These worlds often contain a Proto-Sophont species beginning to establish a nascent civilization and society.
  • This world is in its Alpha Period and has not yet been interfered with by a higher technology civilization.
  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Bodily communicative apparati, courier-runners, and smoke signals.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Bodily muscle.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Bodily locomotion, riding beasts, and litters or sedan chairs.
    • Water: Swimming, rafts, and canoes.
    • Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability.

World Government

Huderu has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.

World Demographics

There are approximately 15 staff and 50 guards men present on the surface at any time. The prisoner population ranges between 200 to 400 prisoners.

World Culture

There are rumours of factions within the prison population. The leaders are sometimes suspected, but little is known. The title of "leader" is ascribed to any prisoner who approaches the guard post with a list of requests or news of prisoner activity.

Urbanization

The Downport is a small, fortified town which acts as a guardhouse and storehouse. It is a barren town, with plain white walls and unimaginative layout. The few staff and guards who live here are quite open about how miserable it is there.

The prison settlement lie in a ring of living structures approximately 1 km from the Downport walls. Each structure has the same layout as the guard homes in the Downport, but without power or running water. Several wells have been dug, and prisoners must haul their own water from a local well each day. Gardens are allowed, but are rarely fruitful. Each structure can hold 3 persons.

A patrol of the ring occurs irregularly, but between 2 to 5 times a week. The patrol is heavily armed and equipped for prisoner detection. They search the living quarters, distribute food and supplies, take census, and occasionally detain prisoners suspected of crimes within the prison. Visitations typically occur during and with a patrol. Other visitation are allowed, but it is made clear that you are on your own.
