The Hellworld class Merchant Cruiser is a TL–11 Merchant Cruiser.

Description[edit]

These TL–11 partially streamlined close structure hulls are often repurposed for military use as an auxiliary. They have Jump-2 drives and carry enough internal fuel for two jumps. They are capable of 2G acceleration and have no Agility rating. They are fitted with drop tanks for an extra Jump-2 and 28 more days of power plant fuel. They are fitted with fuel scoops and have fuel purification for gas giant refueling. It carries a pair of Model/5 fib ship computers with an auxiliary bridge.

It carries light armament and a defensive suite. They are designed with several redundant systems, and carry Factor-4 armor which allows them to absorb considerable punishment. They are fitted with the best particle accelerator spinal mounted weapon system available for ship killing. They are armed with four repulsor bays, seventeen heavy missile bays, two hundred triple sand caster batteries, five dual plasma guns, and one hundred and forty triple pulse laser turrets.

It ordinarily carries no subcraft, no ship's vehicles, and drones only when needed. They carry a battalion of 500 marines with drop capsules. The marines are supported by a squadron of ten 30 dton Sath class Medium Fighters, a company of Sath Alliance Grav APCs, and two 20dton retrieval boats.

It has a crew of 904 and 500 marines. They have a low watch to replace fallen crew or carry another battalion of troops.

History & Background[edit]

Designed and built for the Ka'sa Faction of the Sath Alliance Military Forces. These ships operate within the Far Home Sector.

Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities[edit]

Class Naming Practice/s: Each vessel within the class is named by the government of the state that produces it. They generally draw on traditional naming protocols and it is not uncommon for a historical class name to be reused.

Individual vessels within the class are issued specific serial numbers and transponder codes.

Naming a ship is considered a serious affair and is generally accompanied by a traditional ceremony, usually pouring a local beverage over the bows of the craft. Starfarers tend to be superstitious folk and a ship with a frivolous name is considered "unlucky".
