Hag is a poor industrial world.

  • As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item.
  • Despite this world's significant industrial development, this world is still poor and has few prospects for significant economic development.
  • This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
  • This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Garrone Subsector of Beyond Sector.

Native Lifeforms: Pseudo-algae

Avalon (TB 2216) has an unusual ecosystem.

  • The world is beset with violent tectonic activity, and frequent volcanism on a biblical scale. The continents are mostly volcanic rock of recent genesis, that is quickly eroded by the acidic ocean water, making the oceans rich in dissolved calcium and magnesium.
  • Local algae congregate on some piece of rock or oceanic debris, extracting these minerals to create huge reef-like structures made of carbonate or dolomitic material that provides both structural support and a chemical buffer against local acidity. Avalon's oceans are dotted with these structures, which provide solid ground for other life.
  • Another species of algae dissolves the reefs and reforms it into dendritic (tree-branch) structures that provide the same ecological role as terrestrial trees would on other worlds.
  • Most of Avalon's major cities were hollowed out of the largest of these reef structures, which are permitted to continue growing.

World Starport

Era 1116: Hag has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld. Era 1200: Hag has a Class A Starport, an excellent quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and other kinds of repair, and construction of both starships and non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.
