A Guest in Traveller is a Guest Worker. a deliberately created clone intended to be cheap if skilled labour. Guests are force grown and implanted with a recorded personality and skills but not memories. They are skilled duplicates of the originals. Editing of personalities for passivity and compliance is common.

It is a clone that has the same personality (C4, C5, and C6) as the original including all skills and knowledges. A guest has none of the memories of the original template. A cloned Guest also uses the clone DNA die for C1, C2, C3 +1D

Guests without the Skills and Knowledges recording implanted are similar to a clone in that C4 is based on the genetic C4. Unlike a clone C5 and C6 would be automatically 0 as the relict is essentially a blank canvas.

Relict vs, Guest

Relicts are similar in purpose to Guests but with the full Recorded Personality of the original. Please see relict for further information.

Guests vs. Offspring

Offspring are similar in purpose to Guests but are not implanted with a personality and are left to grow at a normal rate for their Sophont species. Please See Offspring for further Information.

History & Background (Dossier)

Purpose and Background: Deliberately created clones intended to be cheap skilled labour.

Guests are usually created when the pattern has died or disappeared. When a pattern dies, guests are made and are force-grown to Life Stage 3 and implanted with the pattern’s Recorded Personality (only including skills and knowledges).

The creation of Guests are examples of mature cloning technologies and brain pattern Recorded Personality.

Legal Status

In Imperium law a Guest is potentially an ethical and legal nightmare.

Markings

A Guest maybe sporting a large, obtrusive marking for identification purposes. The markings mark the Guest as labour.

Errors

Guests may sometimes retain memories from it's Recorded Personality and then act a Guest in all regards is a Relict but an unauthorized one.

Reproduction and Life Span

A Guest typically is sterilized when created.

Guests are forcegrown to life stage 3 and thus are subject to force growth accelerating aging patterns. Physical aging begins at life Stage 4 and Mental Aging begins at Life Stage 8. One stage earlier in both cases than the original sophont.

As with all clones it is possible to not use forcegrown techologies but in the cases of Guests this is very unlikely.
