Goyaren is a poor, low-population hellworld with a population less than 10,000 sophonts struggling to survive in an inhospitable environment.
- Hellworlds often offer daily, and sometimes even hourly, life-threatening situations to their inhabitants. Survivors often form intense survival skills and tend to be grim realists.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Irikusk Subsector of Far Home Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world lies on the Wolfs Tail Star Lane.

System Data
Yoro-Goyaren System
The primary is Yoro, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.216 Sols, a mass of 0.672 Sols, and a diameter of 978,000 km. (I-I) a trace atmosphere worldlet, and (I-II) Goyaren, designated the mainworld, have a shared orbit within the habitable zone. (II-I) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (II-II) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (III) an exotic atmosphere bigworld, (IV) an exotic atmosphere radworld, (V) a trace atmosphere iceworld, (VI) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (VII) a large gas giant, (VIII-I) a small gas giant, (VIII-II) a small ice giant, (IX) a trace atmosphere iceworld, and (X) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(I-II) Goyaren
(I-II) Goyaren is designated the mainworld. It orbits Yoro at a mean distance of 0.26 AU (38.9 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 59 days 2 hours: it is tidally locked to Yoro. The axial tilt is 2 degrees. Goyaren has a diameter of 8,207 km, a density of 3.89 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.45 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Yoro cause frequent geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.63 bar and a composition of 84% nitrogen (N2), 14% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the low percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 21% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.3m. Mean surface temperature: 22°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Warm and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the seas drive across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 212 million km², Land surface area: 167 million km², Water surface area: 45 million km².
- Goyaren is a Twilight Zone World.
- The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the twilight region.
Native Lifeforms
Yoro-Goyaren System
Goyaren, the mainworld, has primitive native life, consisting almost entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II-I) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting almost entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in most ecological niches. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (II-II) (within the H+ region of the outer system) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)

World starport
Goyaren has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Goyaren possesses a Technology Level of TL–5.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion, and the most fundamental atomic energy.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Ground cars or automobiles and tracked vehicles.
- Water: Large ships and submersibles with steel hulls.
- Air: Early aircraft including seaplanes and very early unmanned rockets.
World government
Goyaren is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
