Gemstar is a low-population vacuum world located in Dagir Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector. The system is non-aligned but contains a Solomani Confederation naval base.
Toward the close of the Rim War, Gemstar attempted to secede from the Confederation, but the Armistice ended the war with Confederation forces occupying the system. The Confederation signed the Treaty of Gemstar, which established Gemstar as a Solomani client state with guaranteed internal self-rule but restrictions on planetary naval forces and foreign policy. The Treaty also provided for a Confederation Navy base to be permanently established in the system and for Confederation forces to perform all military space patrols.
