Garret is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • This a "forbidden" world designated as a Red Zone with an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that make it extremely dangerous to visitors. Everyone is forbidden to travel here.
  • This is a hot world, with a climate of high temperatures.
  • This world is a "Twilight Zone World", a planet that is tidally-locked to its star. It has a hot side that permanently faces the star, a cold side that permanently faces away, and a narrow twilight zone in-between.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the Quesada Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.

Mainworld Data[edit]

Garret is a hot, tidally-locked world with a very thin atmosphere (requires a respirator).

Mainworld Geography & Topography[edit]

Garret has a truly massive ice-pack on its cold-pole, massive enough to shift its center of mass. There is a equally massive difference in the temperatures of the opposing hemispheres, which drives the thin atmosphere into continual violent storms and tornadoes. These winds do bring some precipitation to the hot side of Garret, it does seem to drop within 100km of the twilight zone.

Native Lifeforms[edit]

Gorgas: A slow-moving armored creature with 6-legs that consumes the thin grasses in the twilight zone. The armor seems to have evolved as protection against storm debris, rather than predators. Size: 1m long, 20kg.

History & Background / Dossier[edit]

World Starport[edit]

Garret does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World Technology Level[edit]

Garret possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World Government[edit]

Garret is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.

World Law Level[edit]

Garret has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

World Demographics[edit]

Humaniti 100%

All inhabitants shared the features of yellow head hair and light-colored eyes. Respirators were decorated with distinct designs (see attached images).

World Culture[edit]

Unknown origin. Inhabitants were unapproachable and immediately violent,

spontaneously putting aside group-membership divisions to attack our scouting party.

As they were using a battle-cry of "Garret!", it is obvious how this system gained its name.

World Language/s[edit]

Anglic

Euxene French

Urbanization[edit]

Concrete structures were observed on the lee-side of twilight zone hills. Evidence of a fission reactor was observed by sensors.
