Games Workshop ("GW"), in its early days, published a Traveller book and often featured articles about Traveller within its magazine.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Overview Synopsis: Games Workshop, located in Nottingham in the UK, was not yet the powerhouse producer of popular miniatures games at the time they were publishing Traveller material. In their early days they were a typical game store with an affiliated publishing arm that licensed US RPGs (including Traveller) for publication in the UK and European markets. They also published White Dwarf Magazine, which was their avenue for publishing reviews and new material for the games they licensed. Traveller articles, from early reviews and mechanical tinkering to ships, scenarios, a full page comic, and an interview with Marc Miller, graced the pages of White Dwarf for most of the first 82 issues.

Early on, the miniatures brand now associated with Games Workshop were another part of the same circle of people, operating separately as Citadel Miniatures, who would obtain a license for Traveller miniatures separately; the two would merge later, becoming the company now familiar to many.

Storyline & Setting[edit]

Games Workshop did not participate in the grand march of history within the Traveller setting to any significant extent, and did not engage in large-scale setting building for Traveller, with one notable exception. Their articles and scenarios were typically stand-alone, could often be plugged in anywhere, and frequently explored ideas GDW and the many licensees of Traveller did not.
