Galamid is an agricultural, nonindustrial world still lacking adequate means to expand its economy.
- As an agricultural world, this world is a near-ideal environment for producing quality foodstuffs of plant, animal, and other forms. Quality foodstuffs are a major export commodity for this world.
- It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
- This is a "low technology" world with technology competencies well below technology standards for Charted Space.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Velous Subsector of Far Home Sector.
- It is a Voluntarily Regressive World
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world is considered to be a component of the Missing Link Star Lane.

System Data
Longine-Galamid System
The primary is Longine, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1.21 Sols, a mass of 1.04 Sols, and a diameter of 1.433 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum inner world, (II) an exotic atmosphere radworld, and (III) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world. (IV) Galamid orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (V) an exotic atmosphere hospitable world, (VI) a large gas giant, and (VII) a ringed large gas giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Rosamind Subsystem
The companion is Rosamind, a dim red subdwarf star lying approximately 4,930 AU from Longine. It has a luminosity of 0.00103 Sols, a mass of 0.081 Sols, and a diameter of 109,000 km. (I) a trace atmosphere worldlet, and (II) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Neither world retains satellites.
Mainworld Data
(IV) Galamid
(IV) Galamid is designated the mainworld. It orbits Longine at a mean distance of 1.04 AU (155.6 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 15 days and a rotation period of 25 hours. The axial tilt is 11 degrees. Galamid has a diameter of 8,207 km, a density of 3.43 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.40 G. The world is geologically inert. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.68 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 19% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% carbon dioxide (CO2), water vapor (H2O), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 73% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.3m. Mean surface temperature: 5°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Cool and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is active and moderate weather systems driven by the star and the oceans roll across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 212 million km², Water surface area: 155 million km², Land surface area: 57 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Longine-Galamid System
Galamid, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
Rosamind Subsystem
No world in the subsystem is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)
No information yet available.
World starport
Galamid has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Galamid possesses a Technology Level of TL–4.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone and telegraphs, widespread printing.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early electricity, hydrocarbon internal combustion.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Trains and early automobiles.
- Water: Clippers and steam ships.
- Air: Dirigibles, balloons, very basic rockets.
World government
Galamid is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.
