The Basic Ground Car is a type of Ground Car.
Description / Specifications
The Basic Ground Car is a small, relatively low tech vehicle designed for the civilian market.
Hull / Suspension
A boxy hull constructed from steel.
- Length: 2.4m, Width: 1.4m, Height: 1.6m.
- Overall volume: approximately 5.4m³ (0.4 dTons).
- Unloaded Weight: 850 kg.
The overall volume measures the vehicles maximum dimensions and includes road clearance. The enclosed volume of the contoured hull is substantially lower.
The vehicle is fitted with a wheeled suspension system mounted on axles.
- The vehicle performs well on metalled surfaces but has a relatively limited off-road capability.
Power / Transmission
A small internal combustion power plant using hydrocarbon fuel: the design is basic and it has a relatively poor power to weight ratio. The fuel is contained within a protected tank.
Performance
- Cruise Speed: 40 kph, Top Speed: 75 kph. Off-road Speed: less than 20 kph.
- Range: 400 km at Cruise Speed, 250 km at Top Speed.
Crew / Passengers
The crew compartment consists of an enclosed centrally located cabin fitted with clear windows and containing two front seats and two cramped rear seats. The vehicle has basic environmental protection (the hull is weatherproof but is not sealed) and is fitted with interior lights. The driver's position is fitted with basic mechanical controls. A console provides data such as engine temperature and velocity.
A small luggage trunk is located at the rear of the vehicle.
- Cargo Storage: 0.2m³.
- Maximum Load: 400 kg (including passengers) before performance is dramatically impaired.
Equipment
Headlights and running lights.
History / Background
A very basic vehicle available in a variety of body styles and colors. Despite its primitive nature the design is very robust and extremely reliable.
