Fox is a low-population oceanic water world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts.
- It is covered with very deep oceans with less than 1% of its land above sea level.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 1% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Sandazar Subsector of Course Sector.

System Data
Reynard-Fox System
The primary is Reynard, an ordinary yellow main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1.102 Sols, a mass of 1.02 Sols, and a diameter of 1.399 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, and (III) Fox, designated the mainworld. (IV) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world orbits within the habitable zone. (V) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VI) a small gas giant, (VII) a dense atmosphere radworld, (VIII) a sparse stony planetoid belt, (IX) a ringed large gas giant, and (X) a small ice giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(III) Fox
(III) Fox is designated the mainworld and orbits Reynard at a mean distance of 0.82 AU (142.1 million km), within the H– region of the inner system. It has an orbital period of 268 days 13 hours and a rotation period of 30 hours. The axial tilt is 16 degrees. Fox has a diameter of 16,125 km, a density of 5.89 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.35 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 3.23 bar and a composition of 81% nitrogen (N2), 18% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the extremely high atmospheric pressure. Approximately 99.9% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 1.25m. Mean surface temperature: 12°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Cool and experiences minor major extreme seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is very active and violent weather systems, driven by the star and the oceans, surge across the globe.
Satellite
Fox retains a single natural satellite, a corrosive atmosphere inferno world named Jackal:
- (IIIa) Jackal (UWP Y7B0000-0, orbiting at 35 Diameters/565,000 km)
Mainworld geography and topography
Total surface area: 817 million km², Water surface area: 816.2 million km², Land surface area: 800,000 km².
- The extremely high atmospheric pressure causes tremors, drowsiness, breathing difficulties (including oxygen toxicity) and decreased neural activity if the air is breathed without artificial assistance.
Native lifeforms
Fox, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
Despite the marginal conditions the cold hospitable world lying in orbital position (V) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)

World starport
Fox has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.
World technology level
Fox possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Telephone, radio, and television.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fission power generation, advanced water and wind generation of electricity.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, early ATV's, and dedicated AFV's.
- Water: Amphibious vehicles, improved submersibles, and early SCUBA gear.
- Air: Early jet aircraft and rotorcraft VTOL's.
- Space: Early unmanned rocket delivery systems and early manned orbital rockets.
World government
Fox is governed by a Corporate Polity with a single corporation with a typical corporate structure as a government. A company town, or world. The typical corporate run world usually has a single purpose. Examples include mining, agriculture, or other kinds of resource extraction. But rather than a simple base of operations, there are facilities for housing workers and their families including hospitals, schools, and other infrastructure. How, or if, the children of the workers are incorporated into the workforce varies with companies. The corporation running the world may be a subsidiary of a larger interstellar corporation.
