Extilligence is the stored knowledge of a people, that contained independently of an individual sophont's mind, usually in the form of stored knowledge on a data medium. In other words, it's knowledge that can be passed on despite death.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

Extilligence is a huge advantage that proto-sophonts have over less technological creatures. While creatures can evolve and develop new behavior in response to stimulus and new instincts, the processes of intelligence, extilligence, sapience, and sophonce are tremendously quicker and more adaptable.

Extilligence and technology are both intrinsically and extrinsically related.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Proto-sophonts begin displaying signs of extilligence at TL-0. They often display in the form of oral preserved lore, often in the form of long recited or sung poems or songs. Some societies even use found tools to record extilligence as art, sculpture, or cave drawings.

TL:1-3: Some societies develop writing and begin recording such information at TL-1 as crafted tools are developed. The development of tools making tools at TL-1 allows much more reliable and facile methods of data storage.
