Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard Shipyard v1.13 written by Andrea Vallance.

The Entremis class Military Transport is an auxiliary starship.

Description (Specifications)

The Entremis class Military Transport is a armed logistical support vessel used to facilitate military operations on and around Entremis (world).

This class is equipped for long range operations required along the Distant Fringe. The cargo bay can be converted to quarters or for lowberths to move military personnel. It can be used to deliver supplies into warzones and is armed and armored to protect itself.

  • The vessel is a TL 11 design.

Basic Ship Characteristics

Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. Basic Ship Characteristics [2]
No. Category Remarks
1. Tonnage The Entremis class is constructed using a 8000 dTon hull built in a cylindrical configuration. The hull is partially streamlined and has good atmospheric capability: its atmospheric handling characteristics are entirely reliant on its onboard gravitic systems.
2. Crew The Transport requires 125 crew: 11 command (7 officers and 4 ratings), 12 engineering (2 officers and 10 ratings), 9 gunnery (1 officer and 8 ratings), 12 flight (5 officers and 7 ratings), 16 service (2 officers and 14 ratings), and 65 marines (2 officers and 63 ratings). There are 125 staterooms, but no low berths. All staterooms are single occupancy for all crew, making it feel roomy and comfortable for long voyages. Double occupancy is possible for military applications. The cargo hold can hold additional modular barracks and lowberth racks, as needed. The Marine platoons have some orbital insertion capabilities, the rest rely on sub craft and grav vehicles. There are five drop capsule launchers and an additional thirty-four drop capsules ready to deliver a pathfinder platoon to scout and beacon mark LZs for the follow on lift infantry platoon.
3. Performance The vessel mounts a DeVoss-type Jump-2 drive, a Maneuver-2 drive, and a Power Plant-2, giving performance of Jump-2, 2G acceleration, and producing 160 Energy Points. The ship has an agility rating of 1 and an emergency agility of 2. It is a long-range design: the internal fuel tankage is sufficient for two consecutive jump-2s and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration.
  • The engineering section has a main control room.
    • Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery.
  • The jump drive utilizes a hull grid.
  • The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.
4. Electronics Adjacent to the bridge is a computer model/5 fib.
  • The vessel is fitted with radio, laser and maser system wide communications equipment, dedicated target acquisition LADAR, an advanced active and passive EMS sensor arrays, full ECM, and an avionics suite.
5. Hardpoints 80 hardpoints.
6. Armament The ship has 80 turrets with fire control. There are fifty triple missile turrets organized as five batteries, ten triple beam laser turrets in a single battery, and ten dual plasma gun turrets in a single battery.
7. Defenses The hull features factor 3 armor to resist critical damage to vital systems which cripple ships. This weapons and defensive load out is for self defense and the vessel is not envisioned as an offensive weapons platform.
  • Ten triple sand caster turrets organized as a single battery.
8. Craft The ship carries four 60 dton shuttles, four 4dton Air/Rafts, and four 8dton G-Carriers.
9. Fuel Treatment The vessel has internal fuel tankage of 3,360 dTons.
10. Cost MCr4,417.551 (base)

MCr3,534.041 (qty).

11. Construction Time TBD months to build, TBD months in quantity.
12. Comments Standard cargo capacity amounts to 1300 tons.

History & Background (Dossier)

A locally built vessel which has fallen under the influence of the Unity of Sed's expansion into the area knows as the Dependent Worlds, in the Halcyon Sector. Seven in service.

With the expansion of the Unity of Sed this civilian design was appropriated. Seven of these redesigned "upgraded" merchant vessels were constructed and transferred to military control. The occupational forces have used them to ferry supplies to garrisons in the area of the Dependent Worlds. This takes advantage of the domestic shipbuilding abilities and shipyard capacity of Entremis. They are tough and durable vessels which have yielded dependable service thus far.

Distant Fringe Vessels

The Distant Fringe is said to be a far spinward-rimward area inhabited by colonists and refugees originating on Terra. The region is extremely isolated, separated from the rest of Charted Space by vast, almost uncrossable rifts that were once broached by a system of calibration Points and the use of tankers. Those few academics within Charted Space who have found references to the Distant Fringe regard it as little more than a tall tale. Likewise, many of the inhabitants of the Distant Fringe believe the existence of Charted Space to be mythical.[3]

Vessels originating within the Distant Fringe are very rarely encountered outside of the region. However, misjumps do occur and anomalies with bizarre spacetime and Jumpspace effects exist: as such, craft of this type are not entirely unknown within Charted Space.[4]
