Ediishudir has a tainted, unbreatheable atmosphere and little available surface water. The system has a population between 10,000 and 10 million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. This is a high technology world with available technology over the standards for Charted Space. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Old Suns Subsector of Dagudashaag Sector and in the Domain of Vland. Ediishudir, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships. During the Long Night this world was named Inpuu Vluurar.

Astrography and planetology

Ediishudir is a member of the Gvadh Cluster. The naval base hosts elements of the 186th Fleet.

History and background

In the late 200s, Ediishudir suffered a revolution that put a military dictatorship into power. The new government restricted access by off-worlders to close orbital positions around the planet as well as access to much of the world’s surface. They failed to provide a good reason for the restrictions and various off-world interests began to doubt their motives. The Scout Regional Headquarters (then located on Kimalad (Dagudashaag 1506)) detached a small research group to perform a covert detailed socio-political examination. The scout team discovered that over one third of the population were physically androgynous: that is, they were neither male nor female. There was no direct evidence of genetic interference by the Government but shortly after the survey was published, a second rebellion, led by a cadre of off-worlders, overthrew the dictatorship.

It wasn’t until the mid-800s that the cause of the androgyny amongst the population became apparent. It is caused by a recessive gene that has so far only been identified in genetically pure Vilani. The then Government had attempted to restrict access to the world in the mistaken belief that the problem was a disease being spread by contact with off-worlders. In fact off-worlders helped solve the problem by adding to the gene pool. Despite this, Ediishudiri are still notoriously (and occasionally hideously) inbred even to this day and are the butt of many distasteful jokes.
