Dunmag, originally designated District 191, began settlement around 140 and was admitted to the Imperium in 360.

Description

Dunmag, subsector G of Deneb has 28 worlds, of which 25 have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, four Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, one Poor (Po) world, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and two Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds. In Dunmag there is one race homeworld.

Native Sophonts

The following races (sophont species) are believed to have originated in this area:

Physical Astrography

Mains and Branches

Traces and Clusters

Rifts, Voids, and Jump Bridges

Other Astrographic Features

  • Dunmag Sargasso Hex 1816 is a Sargasso, an area of near-empty space that for some reason has become a resting place for nonoperational starships and protoplanetary debris. Over time, hundreds of ships have been stranded here.

History & Background

Historical Eras

Major Historical Events Timeline

Dunmag still bears the scars of the Denebian Bad War, fought in the 600s. The Humbolt family, concerned that the fleets of Atsah Subsector were using Dunmag as stepping-stones to the Inar and Vincennes subsectors, rendered several worlds unsuitable for human habitation, such as Andalia (Deneb 1714), Twinian (Deneb 2013) and Pagamin (Deneb 2412).

With the abandonment of the subsector capital at Dunmag (Deneb 2413) when it became part of the Regency Frontier, a new capital was established at Namidshur (Deneb 2019). The subsector was renamed for its new capital, a tradition which is often observed, though not always.

The 125th Fleet defends the Namidshur subsector, with its headquaters at Shinorasus (Deneb 1918). The 125th fought in the Fifth Frontier War, being the longest continuously engaged Imperial unit. It was cut off early on by Zhodani and spent the war under siege in the Jewell (Spinward Marches 1106) system until its breakout in 1110.

The Namidshur frontier is part of the 3rd and 4th Regency Quarantine Districts. RDQ3 runs rimward from the Antra Subsector into Namidshur and terminates at Orenberg (Deneb 2011) and Diiski (Deneb 2111). These worlds are also part of RQD4 as the districts overlap to prevent perceived gaps in the areas of responsibility. RQD4 runs from these worlds rimward into the Usani Subsector. RQD3 is defended by the 61st Fleet and RQD4 is defended by the 183rd Fleet. [1]

Politics and Diplomacy : Milieu 1116

Dunmag, subsector G of Deneb contains 28 worlds with an estimated population of 11 billion, a per capita income of Cr4,720, and a total economy is BCr56,000. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr4,915 through 21 starports (2 Class A, 6 Class B, 9 Class C, 4 Class D) employing 1,250,400 people. Driving this interstellar trade are four Agricultural (Ag) worlds, three Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, two Pre-Agricultural (Pa) worlds, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and one Industrial (In) world. The governments in Dunmag maintain eight Scout bases, and three Naval bases. The average technology level is 8 (with most between 5 and 10). The highest technology level is 14 at Shinorasus (Deneb 1918).

Dunmag, subsector G of Deneb contains 42 stars and 279 identified planets; 16 monostellar systems, ten binary systems, two trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 25 of the 28 systems (89%) have native gas giants. There are no Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, one Garden (Ga) world, four Ice-capped (Ic) worlds, one Poor (Po) world, three Vacuum (Va) worlds, and two Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) worlds.

Dunmag has an estimated population of 11 billion distributed across one High population (Hi) world, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, ten Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, seven Low population (Lo) worlds, and one Barren (Ba) world. The highest population world is Giikusu (Deneb 2316). The population consists of 3 sophont groups including one native sophont.
