The Domination of Reshumirak (Dagudashaag 1025) are a Minor Non-Human Race with a non-humanoid appearance and technologically sophisticated sophonts

Physical Sophontology

The Domination (singular is Dominatrix) are a sentient, hydrogen-breathing race of floater-glider carnivores that dwell within gas giants.

First contacted in -209 in Reshumirak (Dagudashaag 1025) system. Since then Domination colonies have been found in the upper atmospheres of twelve gas giants located throughout Dagudashaag, Gushemege, and Core sectors.

The majority resemble metre-long sting rays with a number of tendrils located along the underbelly.

Climate and environment preferences

As a jovoioid race their environmental preferences are for the atmosphere of a gas giant. They are not capable of surviving in an oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere, nor the temperature or pressure ranges suitable to most races.

Diet and trophics

As a carnivore, they subsist on a diet of other creatures, though they are only capable of consuming other species from their homeworld.

Life Cycle and reproduction

Each Dominatrix is effectively immortal. If a Dominatrix is injured beyond its ability to heal itself, it splits into two (or more) individual spawn, each of which grows into a full-sized creature.

Servitor Seeds

The tip of the tail of the Dominatrix contains spines called "Servitor seeds". These spines can be hurled from the tail 20m or more. If one of these spines is injected into another creature, the seed unravels and connects to the host nervous system. The seed acts as conduit for the genetics-altering ability of the Dominatrix, allowing the parent to alter the host. Almost all of the hosts (or servitors) develop armour (hardened skin) and an increased resistance to aging and diseases. Sophont creatures, especially those with Psionic training, are extremely difficult to dominate and the backlash can often result in death for both involved.

Riding Symbiosis

On very rare occasions, a Dominatrix will elect to merge with a sentient host — this symbiotic relationship is known as "Riding".

The parent Dominatrix adapts both itself and the servitor to allow an interface between the two. The Dominatrix then attaches itself to the host body, creating a fusion of the two nervous systems. The two minds then combine creating a single combined personality which controls the symbotic relationship. The merger process allows both the rider and the host to be immune from the affects of aging, and illness. There has never been a known case of splitting the rider from the host without killing both creatures.

Major historical events timeline

Initial contact between Humaniti and the Domination occurred in -209, when a warship from the Medurma Pact entered the Reshumirak system looking for pirates and observed a Domination ship descending into the gas giant atmosphere.

Research Station Lamba Reshumirak

A permanent research base was soon established on Reshumirak, with researchers from Medurma and the Ushran Empire using robotic probes to explore the gas giant and observe the Domination colony deep in the atmosphere.

Much of the research into the race was initially carried out during the Laraa Renaissance and revealed that the Domination, despite having different genetic codes, were, in fact, a single race capable of altering its genetic structure. Dominatrix alter their genetic structures through the use a Telekinetic ability, and are capable of altering not only their own genetic structure but those of others around it. Using this ability prevents the effects of aging or disease.

Domination Bio-ship Observation

In -101, a Domination ship malfunctioned, and was left drifting for several days in the outer system. The research teams finally made real contact when the decision was made to initiate first contact. During the mission it was discovered the Domination ship was using an old Vilani fusion power plant and jump drive apparently scavenged from an old, long abandoned, Vilani mining colony on Reshumirak.

Entry Into the Interstellar Community

The initial contact went well and trade relationships were established. A permanent orbital station was placed in orbit around the Domination gas giant, allowing for continued communications.

Jose Delphi

The first Human Rider was Professor Jose Delphi, volunteering in 322, with others following every few years.

Domination Piracy

In 876 the local Domination colony on Beleperan (Dagudashaag 1626) decided to help themselves to a shipment of Ambalite, destroying the transport in the process. The Remnants Subsector navy, led by Admiral Karl Ghenas III, Earl of Shankida, elected to take the matter into his own hands.

He ordered his Battle Cruisers' entire arsenal of nuclear weapons fired at the colony deep in the gas giant atmosphere. The entire Domination fleet was destroyed a few minutes later by the resulting shock wave.

While the Domination Fleet was destroyed, which dealt a serious blow to Domination ambitions, the Domination homeworld and colonies still exist. Domination representatives explained to foreigners that the actions of the Domination Fleet were the result of a rogue fleet master.

It is difficult to discern whether the Domination are being truthful since their psychology is very different from that of Humaniti. Some believe that the Domination's incessant study of interstellar culture led them to manufacture that excuse. These same scientists believe that the Domination's psychology leads them to find it justifiable to take from weak prey and dominate stronger prey. Only time will tell, but, in the meantime, Research Station Lambda Reshumirak, will keep a close eye on the Domination.

Societal Sophontology

Research and technology

Dominator starships are formed from genetically altered floaters, interfaced with multiple servitor seeds. The Domination starships of Reshumirak were selectively bred into this task using servitor seeds. The living starship creature cannot survive vacuum; they die during their maiden launch. The seeds allow the Domination crew to control the dead matter of the creature's corpse, preventing further decay and providing essential starship systems. The Domination have been unable to manufacture genetic fusion generators or jump drives, which are purchased from other races and merged into the ship body.

Although now dead and animated matter, the ship's organic nature allows the alteration and creation of additional holds or life support system as needed.

Reshumirak GenTech is a human company marketing altered Domination technology to Imperial markets.
