System Data

Devak System

The primary is an unnamed ordinary yellow-white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 2.126 Sols, a mass of 1.144 Sols, and a diameter of 1.639 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) an exotic atmosphere radworld, and (III) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, (IV) Devak orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (V) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VI) a small gas giant, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, and (VIII) a small ice giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Brown Dwarf Subsystem

The companion is an unnamed magenta-coloured L-type brown dwarf lying approximately 3,480 AU from the primary. It is not luminous, it has a mass of 0.062 Sols and a diameter of 60,000 km. (I) a dense icy planetoid belt forms its outer system.

Mainworld Data

(IV) Devak

(IV) Devak is designated the mainworld. It orbits the primary at a mean distance of 1.16 AU (173.5 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 62 days and a rotation period of 19 hours. The axial tilt is 7 degrees. Devak has a diameter of 9,808 km, a density of 5.12 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.71 G. The world is geologically very active. Its atmosphere is rated as Dense, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 1.83 bar and a composition of 79% nitrogen (N2), 20% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by gases of volcanic origin. Approximately 63% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.3m. Mean surface temperature: 53°C. The atmosphere is active and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe. The climate is static.

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Total surface area: 302 million km², Water surface area: 190 million km², Land surface area: 112 million km².

  • The atmospheric taint is caused by high trace quantities (with densities in excess of 10,000 ppm) of carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2) and other gases of volcanic origin.

Native Lifeforms

Devak, the mainworld, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (V) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
