Dev Maros is a rich, nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.
- The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
- It has high-grade living conditions and life on this world is much admired by off-worlders.
- This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Baradis Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System data
Corman-Dev Maros System
The primary is Corman, an ordinary white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 4.42 Sols, a mass of 1.38 Sols, and a diameter of 2.031 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a trace atmosphere inner world, (III) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, and (IV) an exotic atmosphere stormworld. (V) Dev Maros orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (VI) a thin atmosphere bigworld, (VII) a small gas giant, (VIII) a ringed large gas giant, (IX) a dense icy planetoid belt, and (X) a ringed small ice giant form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Mainworld Data
(V) Dev Maros
(V) Dev Maros is designated the mainworld. It orbits Corman at a mean distance of 1.35 AU (202 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 122 days and a rotation period of 19.5 hours. The axial tilt is 18 degrees. Dev Maros has a diameter of 11,140 km, a density of 5.59 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.88 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, with a mean surface pressure of 1.12 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 99.9% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 1.2m. Mean surface temperature: 3°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and powerful weather systems driven by the star and the oceans sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Satellite
Dev Maros retains a single natural satellite, a thin atmosphere hospitable world named Reenu:
- (Va) Reenu (UWP H446000-0, orbiting at 35 Diameters/390,000 km)
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 390 million km², Water surface area: 389 million km², Land surface area: 1 million km².
Native Lifeforms
Dev Maros, the mainworld, has extensive, abundant native life, with complex organisms inhabiting every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
- Reenu, Dev Maros's hospitable moon has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
The cold marginally hospitable bigworld lying in orbital position (VI) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.
History & Background (Dossier)

World starport
Dev Maros has a Class D Starport, a poor quality installation which has few of the expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Dev Maros possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
- Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
- Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
- Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
World government
Dev Maros is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
