Desolate Path

The Desolate Path is the route to rimward taken by the Last Armada as they fled from the destruction of Terra at the hands of the Vilani Imperium, characterised by the hardships and vicissitudes that were suffered.

The early years of the Desolate Path are called the Exodus. The Desolate Path is known from fragmentary data that survived the deliberate destruction of astrographic charts and records in an event called Cutting the Ties. The primary source is the Zelig Journal, a document that survives from that time.

The Last Armada departed from the Last Depot around 2160AD and began their crossing of a broad series of Shadow Rifts using a route called The Bridge. Many of the systems along the Path lacked gas giant worlds – or even much water that could be exploited as fuel – which made the journey particularly difficult. It was at the spinward-rimward end of the Bridge, during the late 2170s, that the Last Armada met the Angels of the Rift.
