Denadir is a nonindustrial water world, which has 90% or more of its surface covered in an ocean of water.

  • The inhabitants of this world live on the roughly 10% of exposed land mass, in underwater colonies, on city ships, or similar arrangements.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Tsorva Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

Astrography and Planetology

The Denadir system is a part of the Nist Cluster.

System Data

Henri-Denadir System

The primary is Henri, an ordinary white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 5.34 Sols, a mass of 1.46 Sols, and a diameter of 2.115 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a large hot gas giant and (IV) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world – orbital positions (I) and (III) are empty. (V) Denadir orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (VI) a dense rocky planetoid belt, (VII) a large gas giant, (VIII) a vacuum wordlet and (IX) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Demain Subsystem

The companion is Demain, a dim red main sequence star that lies approximately 1100 AU from Henri. It has a luminosity of 0.0055 Sols, a mass of 0.302 Sols, and a diameter of 444,000 km. (I) a vacuum worldlet, (II) a vacuum iceworld, (III) a ringed small gas giant, (IV) a small ice giant, and (V) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Both of the giant worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data

(V) Denadir

(V) Denadir is designated the mainworld and orbits Henri at a mean distance of 1.82 AU (272 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 2 years 12 days and a rotation period of 18 hours. The axial tilt is 24 degrees. Denadir has a diameter of 13,109 km, a density of 5.96 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.11 G. The world is extremely geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 1.09 bar and a composition of 84% nitrogen, 14% oxygen, 1% carbon dioxide, and 1% argon, carbon monoxide, neon and other trace gases: the taint is caused by the low percentage of oxygen and gases of volcanic origin. Approximately 99.8% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 2.5m. Mean surface temperature: 45°C. The atmosphere is extremely active and violent weather systems, driven by the star and the oceans, rage across the globe. The climate is seasonal and weather patterns follow regular cycles during the local year.

Satellite:

Denadir retains a single natural satellite, a trace atmosphere ice capped moon named Duriban:

(Va) Duriban (UWP G411000-0, orbiting at 11 Diameters/144,000 km)

Mainworld geography and topography

Total surface area: 540 million km², Land surface area: 1 million km², Water surface area: 539 million km². The Océan de Tempêtes covers much of the northern hemisphere while the Océan de Vapeur covers much of the south. The Mer Verte, the Mer de Cobalt, and the Mer Bouillonnante, shallower regions dotted with active volcanoes, mark the equator. The largest landmass is the Île de Feu, a long narrow island made up of active volcanoes that straddles the equator. It lies at the center of the Îles Brûlantes, a long archipelago of volcanic peaks that follows a major tectonic fault in the seabed.

History & Background (Dossier)

World starport

Denadir has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level

Denadir possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World government

Denadir is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
